This Sold-Out Powder Is Worth All the TikTok Hype

  • Make Up For Ever's Ultra HD Microfinishing Pressed Powder is going viral on TikTok.
  • Fans claim the product blurs fine lines around the eye area, calling it a "magic powder."
  • One editor tested the powder and loved the results.

As someone with pretty deep-set undereyes, I take my face powders very seriously. Not only do I want them to keep my combination-oily skin free of shine, but they also need to be able to make my very sunken undereyes look, well, not that sunken in.

Though no powder will ever replace some good old-fashioned filler in fulfilling that task, until I am ready to try the tweakment, the products I use have to do quite a bit of heavy lifting. Therefore, when TikToker Michelle King Keenan recommended the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Microfinishing Pressed Powder ($37) for her textured undereye area, I knew it immediately needed to grace my face. The powder comes in a small compact, with a mirror included so you can use it for on-the-go touch-ups. I chose shade two, which the brand states is a banana powder for medium to tan skin tones.

After applying the Kosas Revealer Concealer ($28) and blending it out, I used a fluffy powder brush - the Rephr 04 Brush ($39) - to apply the product under my eyes. The blurring effect was immediate: while I was still able to see the crease under my eye, it was not as apparent as before. However, I'm also a big fan of using powder puffs, and though Keenan didn't recommend it, I went ahead and used one to apply the powder under the other eye.

In short, the magic that ensued on my face was next level. Everything from the darkness under my eyes to the texture was significantly reduced - so reduced, in fact, that I looked like I actually got a full night's sleep. (I literally never get a full night's rest, so needless to say, this powder was working double overtime.)

Because of my job, I do try quite a few makeup products on a regular basis. So when a product actually works, I notice immediately. Not only does this powder do what the brand says it will, but it also looks better the longer I have it on.

The only con with the powder is that it's not the best at oil control, but it's so finely milled that it didn't look cakey even when I reapplied it to my T-zone without blotting first. This is truly a remarkable product, and if you're looking for something that is blurring while giving a soft focus finish to your makeup, you can't go wrong with picking this up.
